A most love publicity with Carmen Dell’Orefice
Modern days marketing sell us the idea that beauty is the equivalent of being young and fiting a specific canon that resembles most of the time the Teuton look. I strongly don’t believe this. I think physical beauty can be find in people all ages, races and in particularities of individuals. After all we all are genetically 99.9% alike, we share the same human genome.
I firmly believe that marketing and publicity should re- formulate this ideas in order to engage with their audience instead of just producing a distortion of reality.For example many brands that are targeted to people in their 50´s-70´s show models of people in their 20´s in their adds and maximum pushing their 30´s. I know by first hand that people don´t feel related to that publicity, au contraire they feel insulted. My mother who is 57 always complains about this and says that if people her age aren’t supposed to buy things or where is the publicity for the woman of her age. She says that she would like to watch models her own age advertising the things that are directed to her and not from a lady that is 1/4 her age.
Carmen Dell’Orefice dedicated all her life to modeling and right now she is the oldest woman in the world who is modeling with luxury brands,photoshoots,big commercial campaigns crossing different media and the runway, in three words proper high fashion. This is an example since it is a rarity and i really hope that one day this would be the normal reality we live in.
The next commercial by El Palacio de Hierro a departmental store from Mexico portraits my whole idea with this beautiful short filmed in Paris and started by the incredible Carmen.

Humanity shares common experiences that many times due to life style forgets that have more similarities than differences. A proof of this is Decisive Moments . Yes, moments in plural because this is a repetitive patron in our lifes as human beings. Those little, short but very important moments in life when you know something is about to happen or change. You know things won’t be the same since that instant. This seconds or minutes seem to be eternal and you feel that time froze into space for a small period.
Many things occurs in your head , depending on what is your structure of thinking , it is how the pros, cons are being weight into different variables and are represented in your head in different forms .For example if you have a very structured mind , a list of mathematical equations might start appearing in your head; or a list in a yellow paper doing the old school procedure of adding in one side of a column the positive things that might happen and in the other side of another column the negative ones, all of this by handwritten letter in pen ; if you have a more creative inclination images might start flashing intro your mind and you might start seeing the different scenarios like in a movie ,a photography or a paint of many colors, dimensions,figures and styles.
Whatever the way this trans-formative experience happens , you know things are about to be altered for good or the worst. And maybe you think that whatever the outcome might be you are willing to damage or make better your future for that little instant that you are about to live.
A song about Earthquakes:
Yesterday December the 10th of 2011 a strong 6.8 Richter scale earthquake shocked Mexico City and some other Mexican regions. For “chilangos” (people who live in the City ) was a very frightful moment because of the intensity and longitude of the earth movements.And people couldn’t help thinking about the terrible event that happened in 1985´s tremor. Nothing mayor happened in the city but people´s nervousness and panic.
To lighten up the tone a notch here a very funny , half in English and half in Spanish song about Earthquakes called: La Falla de San Andrés - San Andres Fault and performed by the hilarious and bilingual Kevin Johansen.

HD, refurbished, smoothed, retimed, denoised, deflickered, cut, etc.
All in all I tried to keep the looks of the material as original as possible,
avoided adjusting the colors and the like, since in my opinion the original
footage itself already has an almost surreal and aestethical visual nature.

Have you ever had ten perfect minutes with a stranger? I say this quantity,because i think is the right amount of time to make you think of a lapse where you can have a short but yet insightful conversation with someone.
It is that moment in life when without you knowing it ,without you having an expectation ,boom! Et voila , life decides to give you a little gift and put you in a situation when you start talking with a stranger and start sharing a moment. Suddenly that momentum in space starts to become a part of yourself, you start sharing intimacy ,and you don’t realize why you started doing it. Intimidation , not at all, you feel comfortable doing it and you want to keep sharing and perhaps laughing or crying.
At the same time a voice inside your head tells you , i wish i could continue this and get this person to be part of my daily life , but you know that might be almost impossible,since there are geographical,social and more personal barriers.Plus you won’t be intense ,stalker-ish and ruin it .So you decide to enjoy the moment and put them in your Island Of Happiness.
This insular place is where in your mind treasure all the people that give you little peaces of joy during life. These persons don’t have to be present in your daily routine and as time goes by, if you keep letting yourself have this moments ,people might vanish in your brain; but at that circumstance you hold them close cause you had …ten perfect minutes.
On altars you are supposed to place the favorite food and carnal pleasures that your loved ones had.
Sugar Calaveritas ,these are for altars or favors to friends because of The Day Of The Death in Mexico.
