The existence of Master Pieces on art is no secret. They are the source of inspiration of many artists because they made a breakthrough on their field and perhaps being surpassed.
The maximum form of tribute that an artist can pay to another is doing the reinterpretation of that material. Why ?because it means that it has impacted the life of the performer and because it implies that the admiration is enormous and that the person is willing to take that other persons work and make it is own , to then publicly expose those studies and manifest the infatuation towards the celebrated one.
Next are presented a series of paintings that were inspired by Velázquez’s Meninas.A painting that has been named as perfection by the art world and that has been redone and influenced other painters of different eras and painting movements , that latter the redone style has been the inspiration of more artist, becoming an infinite source of creativity, that perhaps have been inserted in our personal world without noticing or having the knowledge of it.
P.S. : If you wish to see more of the sketches and reinterpretations that Picasso did of the Meninas you can go Museu Picasso website to give them a glimpse and also if you wanna visit it with your flesh and bones you can go to Barcelona and see the paintings. For the Picasso and Hamilton canvases you can go and visit El Museo Del Prado in Madrid.

Since i saw the video the first time i loved the song, without the music it wouldn’t have been the same.
Ever since i haven’t stop playing the song, mainly because it soothes me, piano is one of my favorite instruments. In fact i believe that if i was an instrument i would be a piano where a percussionist played on my wood the drums to accompany the piano. Anyways the songs keeps No1. in my last.fm because i’ve been trying to learn how to play it on the piano.
If you most know i don’t know how to properly play the piano , i just sit on it and play random rhythms that please me on it. It is one of my pleasures to be a non piano player who literally plays on the piano. I have to thank this gift of life to my loved granny who gave a Piano to each of her sons when they got married.
I discovered one day when we were having breakfast the reason she gave such gift to her family. She started saying : You know when i was young i used to play the piano. My sister and i had our eyes popping out and told her: really granny? Wow we didn’t know.
Before i continue with the story you most know that my nan in her youth was poor and lived in a small town. She naturally continued her story : Yes i used to seat in a bard and start playing in it , at that point of the story she said :like this ,and started doing movements with her hands, simulating to play a piano on the table.
When she finished her story we all laughed but at the same time we started commenting about what kind of woman my grandma has always been : a dreamer with very earthy aspirations , a hardworking strong, pragmatic woman. Now, she keeps working at her 95 years old, even if she really doesn’t anymore she keeps showing at work and hangs out there for about an hour everyday .
Thank you for reading and enjoy,
P.S.: Small grooveshark widget in the page of this post ,so you can listen the music.
I know it has been a while since i posted something with my words here on tumblr. I think i have the writers block . I don’t know why. Also i didn’t want to live the blog unattained.
As almost everything in this space is about something that makes me think a bit deeper with a combination of barfed personal thoughts. That is why i decided to post something that was hidden in my Drafts.
Without even noticing this post is about finding inspiration. The next video certainly inspires me.It is a well told story of a little dog in the streets of Oxford and the story is told from it’s point of view. The photography is stunning, vibrant and it is a very well achieved stop motion photo work.
The conclusion that i can tell you about this story is that this is the kind of work i aspire to do someday. Not copying someone else but doing my own interpretation of something ,with new techniques or perfect old ones. The only thing I’m sure now is what i don’t want as almost everything in life.I think that is what separate normal people like me from geniuses, they know what they want and i don’t.Steel figuring in it out and will keep doing it for the rest of my life .
I remember being more or less 22 years old and traveling to NYC for the 2nd time in my life. I went to the MET and was amazed with it because i felt that a meaningful part of history of the world was contained into a very little space, the museum. Also i got conscious about the fact that was the spirit of that magnificent city.
While wondering around one of the galleries i saw that a lecture was about to start and was open to the public and the price of the ticket was cheap, so i decided to profit that experience that life was giving me. The theme treated in the lecture was icons. It was there when i learned the true meaning of the word.
An icon is an image that has become an abstract in the collective mind , so when it is reproduced several times it doesn’t have to be the exact same image to be recognized, it also is an object that is replaced by a symbol. One of the most popular icons through history is Christ ,it has been represented in different history periods and in different ways: happy, sad,mad with beard, without beard, as a boy as a men ,etc… But at the end if you are familiar with occidental culture you will probably recognize him , no mater what shape it has. I think the same happens in different art areas when the piece stop belonging to the artist, trespasses time and shape;it starts to become popular ,influences peoples lives and transforms them, sometimes without the notice of the individuals.Starting to rotate in the Pop culture and the original form of art initiates a new cycle by becoming a new piece of art.
The Chilean Pablo Neruda is a good portrait of that. His poems surround and inspires humanity to new worlds. Down the text you will find some examples of what i am talking about:
Me gusta cuando callas by Pablo Neruda:

Poema X by Pablo Neruda:
