A song about Earthquakes:

Yesterday December the 10th of 2011 a strong 6.8 Richter scale  earthquake shocked Mexico City and some other Mexican regions. For “chilangos” (people who live in the City ) was a very frightful moment because of the intensity and longitude of the earth movements. And people couldn’t help thinking about the terrible event that happened in 1985´s tremor. Nothing mayor happened in the city but people´s nervousness and panic.

To lighten up the tone a notch here a very funny , half in English and half in Spanish song about Earthquakes called: La Falla de San Andrés - San Andres Fault and performed by the hilarious and bilingual Kevin Johansen.

Help Japan: DONATE

As you probably already know Japan has been heated by a 8.9 earthquake and a 7 meter Tsunami in the north eastern coast .Since then they have had earthquake replicas very frequently and another 3m Tsunami. In consequence to this a nuclear disaster in potency may take place due to problems in the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant.

Japan is one of the most developed countries in the world and because of that plus their highly preventive culture towards natural disasters ,they have shown a very organized society that is taking all the necessary measures to have the less negative impact that a disaster like this have already left.

But facing this magnitude of catastrophe is hard even for a country like Japan. And many economical efforts are needed to make thing done. So i urge to donate through your local Red Cross because it is an organization specialized in disaster management and emergency response, plus it is an international organization that is neutral which means it doesn’t have any agenda besides the mission of providing help specially during emergencies.

If your local Red Cross is not taking donations , you still can help without tax relief to the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Page, just select under : i would like my contribution to go to :Japan : Earthquake and Tsunami.

Haiti

The next twits made me post these:

Haiti is the poorest country in the Occidental Hemisphere and it is in an Emergency State. Why? Because they suffered a devastating earthquake of 7 degrees in the Richter scale.

As a result chaos habits in Port Au Prince these days. Thousands of deads and hurt people lay together in between the rests and streets of the capital city.Since it is an undeveloped country ,it is not a surprise the lack of logistic for the rescue and rehabilitation of the country (even developed countries in a situation like these don’t seem to be very organized)

Mexico city in 1985 lived a 8 degrees earthquake. The population knows what is to loose your loved ones ,probably all your belonging and  to be injured too.The civil society went out and helped each other with supplies and trying to find persons in the remains of the counstructions. We also received international help.

Today the embassy of Haiti in Mexico urged people to stop sending help ( medicines, food, water etc…) directly to their headquarters , because their capacity of storage was already exceeded. They asked people to send things directly to the Mexican Red Cross.

As you know Mexico is a country in development. People that don’t have money to donate or to buy things that will be donated are giving their time for packaging and doing human chains to get things inside the collection centers.

With these i am asking you to find the way to help. You can do it. Just get online and search for your local Red Cross or U.N. information of how you can HELP. And yes post online to create awareness. After all, companies and organizations expends millions of dollars to get their word out.
